YEŞİLYURT KÖYÜ MOSQUE

The historic mosque in Yeşilyurt Village, located in the Banaz district of Uşak, was abandoned following the construction of a new reinforced concrete mosque adjacent to it in 1985. The building now suffers from severe structural problems, including partial collapses of its timber roof structure. Given its critical condition and the urgent need for intervention, a high-precision architectural survey was conducted, utilizing 3D laser scanning and advanced photogrammetry to safely document the fragile structure. The subsequent restitution phase was grounded in detailed historical research and comparative studies of analogous rural mosques to determine its original architectural character. Based on this research, a restoration project was conceptualized, proposing a modern and structurally sound intervention that is profoundly respectful of the building's historical and cultural significance. The complete suite of projects for its salvage and preservation has been approved by the relevant Regional Conservation Board.
