DİLİSKELESİ RAILWAY STATION BUILDING

The Diliskelesi Railway Station, located in Kocaeli, is a valuable surviving example of 19th-century railway heritage. Situated on the historic Istanbul-Haydarpaşa to Ankara railway line, the station was originally commissioned in 1873.
Although the building had undergone a restoration in the recent past, it was partially damaged and rendered unusable following a fire in 2020. In response to its post-fire condition, a high-precision architectural survey was conducted utilizing 3D terrestrial LiDAR technology to accurately document the structure.
Based on this detailed digital data, the restitution project was developed through extensive historical research. The subsequent restoration project was then conceptualized with a modern approach aimed at reinstating the building's architectural integrity. The complete suite of survey, restitution, and restoration projects has since been approved by the relevant Regional Conservation Board.
