THE FORMER
MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND AGRICULTURE BUILDING

Located on Vekaletler Avenue in the Devlet Mahallesi of Ankara, this building for many years served as an auxiliary service building for the Supreme Court of Appeals (Yargıtay). Following the court's relocation to its new campus, the building was vacated, and the Ministry of Interior initiated a project for its adaptive reuse as a new service building.
The structure was designed and built by the Austrian architect Clemens Holzmeister and was commissioned in 1934. As a flawless example of the state architecture of its period, the building stands as a significant cultural asset.
A high-precision architectural survey was conducted utilizing 3D terrestrial LiDAR technology. Based on this detailed digital data, the restitution project was developed through extensive historical research. The subsequent restoration project was conceptualized as an adaptive reuse plan, proposing a modern intervention that respects the building's immense historical and architectural integrity while accommodating the functional requirements of the Ministry of Interior.
The complete suite of survey, restitution, and restoration projects has been approved by the relevant Regional Conservation Board.
