Following the initial architectural survey and restitution studies prepared by our firm for this site, an official archaeological excavation was conducted by the Eskişehir Museum Directorate under a decision by the Conservation Board.
This excavation successfully uncovered foundation traces that corresponded precisely with the prepared restitution study. Post-excavation, a new architectural survey and an updated restitution study were prepared.
Based on these findings, a critical decision was made: a full reconstruction of the structure, believed to date to the early 17th century and existing only at the foundation level, would be scientifically unsound with the available data.
Therefore, a new restoration project was conceptualized with an adaptive reuse approach. This modern design proposes a multipurpose exhibition and functional area that preserves and showcases the historic foundation-level ruins, while incorporating enclosed, multipurpose halls above ground for public use.
