This historic timber structure, which formerly served as the Government Building and a Tekel Office, was completely destroyed by a fire in 2008. Only the masonry stone basement and post-fire remnants of the first-floor timber walls survived. In order to enable its rebuilding, a comprehensive reconstruction project, supported by architectural survey and restitution studies, was prepared and subsequently received full approval from the relevant Regional Conservation Board.
