TİRE HAFSA HATUN MOSQUE

The Hafsa Hatun Mosque, a 13th-century structure located in the rural area of Tire, is the sole surviving element of a larger, now-lost complex (külliye). Having been abandoned for many years, the building is in a state of ruin, with its roof and the upper sections of its walls completely lost. The remaining structure consists of a main prayer hall (harim), an attached summer prayer hall, and a minaret.
Given the building's critical and fragile condition, a high-precision architectural survey was conducted utilizing 3D terrestrial LiDAR technology and advanced photogrammetry to safely document the ruins. The subsequent restitution phase was grounded in detailed historical research and comparative studies to determine its original architectural form. Based on this research, a restoration project was conceptualized, proposing a modern and structurally sound intervention that is profoundly respectful of the building's historical and cultural significance. The complete suite of survey, restitution, and restoration projects has been prepared.
